Our History

Advantage Physical Therapy & Sports Performance was opened in September 2001. It is owned and operated by William M. Johnson, PT, DPT,OCS. The company has sustained a consistent growth providing the local community with one-on-one, hands-on, out-patient orthopedic and sport physical therapy, including niches in aquatic therapy, women's health, and hand therapy. Copyrighted Sports Performance Programs developed and are regularly presented several times a year A-Game and Successful Knee Injury Prevention program SKIP. Advantage has two clinics to serve the valley; the first clinic was opened in 2003 next to Gold's Gym where a great working relationship benefits both companies. The second clinic located in Weyers Cave opened in April 2007 and has grown consistently since opening.

Advantage Physical Therapy has a continually growing staff to meet the needs of the Shenandoah Valley and currently employs six full-time therapists, three full-time physical therapy assistants and two part-time physical therapist assistants, two full-time Certified Athletic Trainers and two part-time ATCs, two part-time physical therapists, one part-time occupational therapist with one part-time occupational therapist assistant, and a Sports Performance Specialist. Additionally the front office for the two clinics include three patient administrators, one billing specialist, two office managers, and a practice manager. In January 2011, Advantage came under the management of Drayer Physical Therapy Institute.
